HOW THE PADDLE-A-THON WORKS
It only takes a few minutes to set up your own personal grassroots fundraiser. After you register for a leg of Paddle to the Sea, an easy-to-use template will help you create and customize your personal webpage. You can add your own pictures and text, or you can use the sample pictures and text that we have provided. Once you create your webpage, you can email the link to your friends and family and ask them to sponsor you! Your sponsors will be able to make a secure donation in your name right from your page. You can also opt to sponsor yourself. However, reaching out to your friends and family helps us build grassroots support for the Tuolumne! All donations go directly to support the Tuolumne River Trust's work to protect and restore the River. If you need help, our staff will happily assist you in setting up your website and figuring out how to reach your goal!
REGISTERING AS A TEAM
Each team member should register individually and then join the team fundraising page created by your team captain. Regular registration fees and fundraising requirements apply.
Bringing your own boat? You must still register with Paddle to the Sea.
IMPORTANT - SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF PADDLING
WHITEWATER RAFTING - Paddlers who want to participate in the whitewater rafting legs can either secure a private permit and plan their own trip or sign up for a professionally guided trip with one of our Whitewater Outfitter partners. As part of Paddle to the Sea, ARTA River Trips is offering a 2-day rafting trip for $359 starting May 7 and is donating $100 per customer to the Tuolumne River Trust. Whitewater Voyages is offering a 2-day rafting trip for $419 starting May 7 and a 1-day rafting trip for $219 starting May 9. Paddle to the Sea registration fees waived for this leg of the trip. Fundraising goals still apply.
CANOEING AND FLATWATER KAYAKING - Individual days of paddling range from 3 to 10 miles, so you can pick a day that suits your ambition. The Tuolumne River Trust can supply you with a canoe and equipment, or you are welcome to bring your own boat and equipment. Be sure to specify which option you prefer when you register.
SAN FRANCISCO BAY-DELTA CRUISE - Limited tickets are available for a luxury cruise through the Delta. This leg of Paddle to the Sea has a special registration fee of $250. The SF Bay-Delta is the largest estuary in the Western Hemisphere, an incredibly rich and biologically important ecosystem, and the center of much controversy in California water politics. Come hear from expert speakers about the Delta Ecosystem and the current political situation as you experience the Delta for yourself.
SEA KAYAKING - There will be two sea kayaking legs on Saturday June 5th. One group of sea kayakers will start in Oakland and cross the Bay to San Francisco, where they will meet up with a second group and both groups will paddle around the SF Waterfront to finish at the Paddle to the Sea Grand Finale party. Sea kayakers at all levels of experience are welcome to join the final "Waterfront" leg. Only experienced sea kayakers who have crossed the bay before should sign up for the "Bay Crossing" leg. All sea kayakers will need to bring their own boat or rent a boat from one of our partners: California Canoe and Kayak in Oakland, or City Kayak in San Francisco.
